Structural Layers

I enjoy drawing diagrams and telling simple stories about complex ideas through imagery. I think that telling simplified stories is an extremely effective way to educate. In order to fight HIV, we have to learn how to prevent it by educating ourselves about its causes.

In what way is your idea innovative?

My proposal organizes data along varying planes and layers, recognizing that the spread of HIV is not caused by a linear process but rather by a complex relationship between social/economic factors.

Hi, I agree, but just to clarify, it may appear cluttered at this stage because of the scale of the image allowed for voting purposes, and because it is thus far incomplete. Additionally, this is intended more as a screenshot of a particular moment. The intention is for the various panels to be animated as one clicks through a series of images which eventually link different structural drivers.

I like that you've acknowledged the complexity of the situation, but at the same time I find the design difficult to follow. Something to keep in mind if you keep your lead!
