HIV/AIDS & Young Women: The Cause, The Effect, and Our Response

HIV/AIDS & Young Women: The Cause, The Effect, and Our Response

What inspires you to take part in this challenge?

:

I have always been very interested in issues of gender inequality as well as the HIV/AIDS cause, so I was immediately very interested in this challenge. I am also currently a graphic design student at Rochester Institute of Technology so I love design and enjoy designing infographics.

In what way is your idea innovative?

My infographic will be cohesive, visually appealing, and informative. I will explain the Cause, Effect, and Response of HIV/AIDS in young women both through words and stylistic, graphic imagery.

Beautiful design! The text is just very hard to read due to its size. I'd love to be able to more easily access the information.

Hi everyone! To get a better idea of how my completed infographic will look, check this out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/82746342@N06/7623155106/sizes/k/in/photostream/. I gave my "bare bones" the look-and-feel that it will have when it is completed, and I inputted the bits and pieces I have been working on. Most of the text is still filler text, and I haven't made all of the graphics for my "The Cause" and "Our Response" sections (besides the first two structural drivers). There are still some kinks, and I plan to make more graphics for my “The Effect” section.

I have also been working on my graphic imagery for the "Limited Livelihood Opportunities" structural driver. Here is a closer view: http://www.flickr.com/photos/82746342@N06/7623152216/sizes/h/in/photostream/. It is meant to represent poverty and migration. Check out my comments below for more URLs to high quality images :)

Hi everyone, I will continue to add bits and pieces that I'm working on so that you can get a better idea of what my finalized infographic may look like. Here are a few options of graphics I have been working on for my "The Effect" section-- they will help illustrate facts about HIV/AIDS. Here is one option: http://www.flickr.com/photos/82746342@N06/7584452822/sizes/h/in/photostream/ and here is another: http://www.flickr.com/photos/82746342@N06/7584525472/sizes/h/in/photostream/. As you can see, these graphics have the same look-and-feel as my other imagery. If you haven't already, check out the two URLs in my first comment (below) to see more high quality images of my idea!

Hi everyone! My name is Megan and this is my idea submission. I am very excited about this project and wanted to share some higher-quality images so that whoever is interested can get a better look at my idea.

Here is a larger view of my submitted image so you can actually see it:

Here is a larger view of the graphic imagery I made to represent the "Gender Inequality and Gender Roles" structural driver. The imagery is meant to represent violence, gender inequality, and male promiscuity. The text is obviously just filler text right now, and is meant to show where the text would go. Check out the subtle details that are much easier to see with the large image:

I hope anyone who is interested found these images helpful, and if you like what you see please vote for my idea between July 26th and August 9th! :)
