Win $2,500 to design an infographic that shows why women in the developing world are so vulnerable to HIV/AIDS.
Women and girls between the ages of 15-24 are the population most vulnerable to HIV – double the infection rates among young men. ICRW, as a member of the HIV/AIDS research & advocacy consortium, STRIVE, is working to find solutions that will bring down HIV infection rates among women – and especially young women and adolescent girls who are worst-affected.
ICRW is seeking cutting-edge ways to tell the complicated story of how social, economic and cultural norms known as ‘structural drivers’ continue to make young women in the developing world so vulnerable to HIV/AIDS despite biomedical advances made over the past 25 years.
Help us explain why they are so difficult to overcome through an infographic that clearly communicates what structural drivers are (consult STRIVE’s website for a full description) and how they fuel HIV/AIDS transmission amongst women and adolescent girls. Help us show what the complex socio-economic and cultural forces often look like when they are at play in a young woman’s life, and how effective ‘structural interventions’ can make a difference. Help us turn the statistics and abstract issues into a compelling, informative visual experience with a human dimension.
We’re offering a $2,500 cash prize for the best infographic idea. The winner will have three months to use the funds to build the infographic. The winner’s design will also be promoted on ICRW’s web site (and potentially on STRIVE’s), its social media channels, and through its global HIV/AIDS network.
